Ron Paul in Charleston SC

Ron Paul comes to Charleston!

Ron Paul rolled into Charleston November 27, 2008 ready to rally his supporters and promote his freedom message to the rest of the low country. He never changes and is always full of energy. HE is a southern gentleman from the word go. He was charming, witty, and extremely serious in his message about returning this country to the constitutional values that our forefathers envisioned. He is a pure conservative and wants to restore the values once held by the Republican Party.

He said Charleston is beautiful and wants to return as soon as possible. He wants to bring his wife, Carol with him when he returns, to introduce her to the traditions of Charleston and its friendly freedom-loving people.

We kept him busy the entire time he was here. We had a late dinner at Carolinas, on Exchange Street, upon his arrival. The food was wonderful. Dr. Paul had shrimp bisque and scallops. The staff of Carolinas were very professional and they made sure we had a wonderful dining experience. Kudos to the chef and thanks for the deserts! We passed the deserts around and everyone took a bite. After wrapping up a wonderful dinner we got a good nights rest.

Dr. Paul and I had an early breakfast and discussed the plans for the day. Then we did a radio interview at The Morning Buzz with Richard Todd on WTMA. We moved on to the Newsmakers show on Comcast channel 2 as well as a PBS interview. We had a lovely lunch at the famous Charleston Mills House restaurant on Meeting St. with press availability. (A big thank you to Ed Haas and Allison Gibbs for turning out the press!)

After lunch, the “Bully Pulpit Series” put on by the College of Charleston, sponsored by Allstate, invited Dr Paul to speak. After only 2 hours all tickets were sold out! The auditorium was packed with supporters from the college. The youth are getting more involved in politics more than ever before because of Dr. Paul’s freedom message. Thanks to Andrew Mauldin and Brian McGee things went smoothly and exceeded expectations at the college.

From there, Dr. Paul and his entourage rolled onto Belgrade Avenue and were greeted by 200+ meeting group members, supporters, and the lovely Linda Honeycutt (The Granny Warrior). We love you Linda!

Steve the sign guy was present and displayed some of the most beautiful graphic designs on his T-shirts and signs. They promote the freedom message and are Ron Paul specific. Thank you Steve the sign guy!

After the office opening and media opportunities, the rally in the Omar Auditorium at Patriots Point was filled with people looking, for a change in the way Washington does business. The rally was a huge success, thanks to the team of volunteers who gave selfishly and unconditionally to the cause of freedom. Big thanks to Jason Rucker of Goose Creek for making things happen! (James and Michelle, Dustin, Jim and Amy, and all the others!)

None of this would be possible without the huge media support given by Jack Hunter, Richard Todd, and the WTMA communication network. Jack Hunter has been instrumental and is also an influential orator who has introduced Dr. Paul to the low country. Thanks Jack! (May the Southern Avenger become nationally known as a promoter of freedom and protector of individual liberties.) Maybe someday Jack will be a Ron Paul republican in Congress!

Crystal ball Productions streamed lived, the entire day free of charge and made it possible for all of Dr. Paul’s online supporters to watch each event unfold.

Last but not least, Jack Dorman made it possible for us to have a headquarters in Charleston and has been a proponent of freedom and a supporter of Dr. Paul. Jack is a retired World War II vet and knows full well what it means to take the oath to protect the constitution. Thank you Jack D!

All in all it was a fantastic trip and the Low Country received Dr. Paul with open arms. We will welcome him back when his schedule permits. Again thanks to all who made this possible.
